Haywood Thomson, RN, DMT, PRESIDENT

Haywood is a Registered Nurse and Diver Medic. He has nineteen years of experience in the medical field with thirteen years treating emergency decompression illness (DCI) patients. Haywood has treated over two hundred cases of DCI. He brings a vast experience treating everything from the simplest case of joint pain to the most complicated neurological DCI.

Robert W. Sanders, MD, FACEP, FUHM, MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Dr. Sanders is the Medical Director for all field services and Lead Hyperbaric Physician for the Phone Consultation Service. He is on-call to manage all diving emergencies that arise. Dr. Sanders is dual Board Certified in Emergency & Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. He has over twenty years of hyperbaric medical experience as a physician, DMT, and has managed multiple hospital-based and free-standing critical care hyperbaric units.

Mary Ann Thomson, MANAGING DIRECTOR

Mary Ann Thomson is one of the founders and Managing Director at HM Recompression Services. Her primary responsibilities are to keep everyone organized and on task with the ongoing and upcoming contracts.  She is also a devoted wife, mother and Christ follower. 

Charles Geiger, IDC, DMT

Charlie spent 24 years in the US Navy as a Deep-Sea Diving Independent Duty Corpsman. Charlie has been deployed all over the world including duty with Explosive Ordinance Disposal, Naval Ship Repair Facility in Japan, and was the Course Supervisor for the Diving Independent Duty Corpsman school. His last duty station was the Naval Experimental Diving Unit in Panama City, FL. Charlie has been running hyperbaric chambers in support of diving operations and is an expert in diving medicine. He is a senior DMT for HM Recompression Services as he brings a wealth of knowledge, skill, and experience to the team. He also works our Diver Hotline managing field care of injured divers.

Douglas Kesling, DMT

Doug Kesling has a 40-year career in scientific and commercial diving.  At the University of North Carolina Wilmington, during a 21-year tenure, he served as the Manager of the Advanced Diving Technology Program for the Center for Marine Science in support of NOAA’s marine research directives.  He also helped continue the Aquarius Undersea Research Laboratory (ARB) diving program. He conducted oversight of diving safety, hyperbaric medicine, saturation and technical diving training programs.  He has participated in at-sea research missions as a diving supervisor and served as the Expedition Diving Safety Officer for the USS Monitor – NOAA/NMSP Expedition. Doug was presented the Conrad Limbaugh Award for Scientific Diving Leadership from the American Academy of Underwater Sciences (AAUS).

Spencer West, DMT

Spencer is a field DMT for HM Recompression. He spent 6 years on active duty in the US Navy as a Navy Diver and DMT. He is also an EMT and is currently in the Naval Reserves. Spencer has a high skill level in emergency management of injured divers and is a great asset to the team. 

Beau Chandler, RN, DMT

Beau is a field DMT for HM Recompression Services. He joined the Navy in 2008 and has been a DMT since 2013, where he has worked around the world throughout the Middle East, the Marianas Islands, and Europe. He has spent his time in the Navy assigned to Marine Corps infantry, ships husbandry, and Naval Special Warfare. He works part-time in a hospital emergency room, and is currently pursuing his RN-to-BSN from Old Dominion University.

Mathieu (Hoovie) Huovinen, IDC, DMT

Hoovie is currently active duty with 18 years in the US Navy. He is a part time field DMT for HM Recompression Services. His long career in the Navy was spent as a diver, FMF Corpsman, and as a Deep-Sea Diving Independent Duty Corpsman. Hoovie is airborne qualified and was an instructor for Naval Special Warfare diving. He is an expert in hyperbaric and diving medicine.
